Let's Hope I Stick With This!

Hey all, I know two posts in a weekend wow! I think that I am just hoping that by writing a few times it will create a habit that causes me to keep this updated more frequently. Anyways this weekend has been different from most of my summer weekends. My wife went up to Maine to visit with a friend up in Bangor and attend a concert (Blink 182 and Lil Wayne, I know how very early '00s haha). But that left me flying solo, I decided to stay home and work on so school work for next week. I took a class on creating innovative organizations and was assigned a disruptive organization to look in to and write up a short paper and presentation. I really thought it was going to take the vast majority of the weekend to complete, but I just got started and next thing I new I had the paper basically done along with a PowerPoint deck to use for my short presentation. This same class assigned a video for us to watch a week or so back of Admiral William H McRaven's speech to the graduating class of 2014 at the University of Texas, where he famously tells them to make their beds. I am sure many people have seen this video already there was a book written from the advise he gave in this speech, but it is about 17 minutes long and it really does pack a punch. His advise is that if you get up and accomplish one small task you will be spurred on to complete more. So, today I got up (I know what you're thinking "and he made his bed" oddly no haha) I did the dishes and that led to the cleaning of the kitchen and then I looked outside and saw the sun shining so I went for jog (liberal use of the term, read more as a power walk with intermittent jogging) and that really got me going and I started my paper/presentation and found that it just kind of flowed out. It was really great, I hope to keep these kind of productive weekends up.

My paper was on Rent the Runway a really great entrepreneurial idea, it really disrupted the retail fashion industry by creating a way for people gain access to a product that was originally reserved for the wealthy (just in case you were curious).

I did make time for some fun though as you guys know from last post for me that typically means a cold beer and some music. I took my laptop into the backyard and turned on some music and grabbed a beer. Today it was a fun kind of sour beer called Prost Secco from Baxter Brewing (see below).
I am not typically a sour beer guy but I am up to try anything once and my brother-in-law left this in the fridge after a recent BBQ he had at my place and I thought I'd give it a try. It was great, today in the Boston area it is in the high 80's sunny and this beer was perfect for that. It was light, refreshing, slightly fruity, and a bit sour. Really great overall (although I am sure the relaxing outside in the sun helped a bit) it was a very nice way to brake up the paper writing ect… I am sure I will be trying more beers very soon (like later today soon) but I thought I would get another post under my belt to help create the habit. I hope to be writing another post very soon.

See you out there,
John
