Missing...Studying
So, I have been missing for a while I know. I have been very busy with classes and work. When I wrote my first post I had recently started grad school and now here I am about to complete my second full year of the part-time MBA program Northeastern University it feels like it has flown by. The bulk of this post is really to get back to writing here. I am not sure if it is being read but it is a fun way to get stuff out there.
Recently I have been doing the typical New England summer thing and have been running around staying busy. We have already been to numerous breweries and beer gardens (see some the attached photos) and have been up to Maine a few times. I have found that just because I have to spend the weekend studying doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable. One of my new favorite things is to set a camp chair up in the back ward with my school work and listen to music, study, and sip on what my mom would call "an adult beverage". Doing this makes studying feel more like an enjoyable experience rather than a chore. I am a huge believer in the power of music listening to music makes the work day go by faster and makes studying so much better (I mean the beer doesn't hurt).
Currently my two favorite breweries are Lone Pine in Portland, ME and Nightshift in Everett, MA. There are better breweries out there but these guys get points for convenience, quality, atmosphere, and affordability. Nightshift is that hometown brewery that you love and the taproom has plenty of space both indoors and outdoors and it seems to have something for everyone. It has definitely become a go to spot when I have people visit from out of town. Lone Pine is a bit further away being up in Maine but as that is where I am from originally (although Mainers would disagree because I was born in New Hampshire) I spend a good amount of time up there and the local places hold a special place in my heart. The original taproom for Lone Pine is still fairly small but always seems to have space and they serve some of the best IPAs I have had while not braking the bank. I really love it there (there is also some pretty solid Instagram walls haha). I couldn't find a photo of Lone Pine so I added a couple pictures from some the local beer gardens here in Boston, but I will post some more in posts to come.
I want to keep this updated as I try more breweries, foodie stops, and travel more. Our next trip is next month to Portugal, but I will be updating more frequently if possible.
See you out there,
John
